Home Remedies for Yeast Infection

Home remedies for yeast infection can treat some of the symptoms. But a yeast infection is very complex and home remedies could actually make it worse. So please do your homework before you decide upon a course of action.

First let’s talk about why people are willing to try home remedies for their yeast infection. Some people are afraid to admit to anyone that they have a yeast infection. They feel that they have done something wrong or that people may consider them “dirty”. This is far from the truth!

I have seen many numbers as far as how many women get yeast infections. They range from 75% to 95%. No matter which you believe, that is definitely the majority. So please don’t think that you are any different than the majority.

Some people think that a yeast infection only comes from sex or being dirty. That is why they want to try home remedies for their yeast infection and keep it to themselves. Now those COULD be causes, but there are many more that are more common. It could be something as simple as wearing your clothes too tight, panties made of a synthetic fiber, wet clothes left on too long, or even your eating habits.

So what are some of the home remedies for yeast infection. Here are a few:

1). Yogurt: This is at the top of everyones list. Beware that it is only plain yogurt with no sugar and it must contain lactobacillus acidophilus. Eat it or apply to the infected areas. Some people freeze it in a tampon applicator and insert it. Or you can put it on a tampon and insert it. Once or twice a day. Just make sure that you dry well when finished. Moisture is an enemy of yeast infection!

2). Garlic: Add lots to your diet. You may also insert it in the vagina. Gently peel the skin. If you cut into the garlic, you may cause burning. Wrap it in gauze or cheesecloth. Tie the ends with unwaxed dental floss. Leave some extra on one end and let it hang out when you insert it.

3). Apple Cider Vinegar: Dilute with water and apply to infected areas. Test a small area first to insure that it does not burn. Also, you can put a cup in warm bath water and soak. Make sure that you dry completely when finished.

4). Buttermilk: Drink two glasses a day.

5). Water: Yes water. Simple, but cures a lot of what ails you. Most people say to drink at least 8 8 ounce glasses per day.

Obviously there are many more. And if you talk with 10 people you will probably get 10 different answers. But the bottom line is you can treat some of the symptoms of your yeast infection with home remedies. But as I said before, yeast infections are very complex. To make it simple, think of a yeast infection as your body sending you a message. And that message is that your inner balance is out of sync. If you try home remedies for your yeast infection, you could actually be making the problem worse.
